Second Call for Papers
ISA-9
Ninth Joint ISO-ACL/SIGSEM Workshop on Interoperable
Semantic Annotation
held in conjunction with the 10th International Conference on
Computational Semantics (IWCS-10), Potsdam, March 19-20, 2013.
http://sigsem.uvt.nl/isa9
ISA-9 is the ninth edition of a series of joint workshops of the
ACL SIGSEM Working Group "The Representation of Multimodal
Semantic Information" (see http://sigsem.uvt.nl/) and ISO TC
37/SC 4 (Language Resources) WG 2: Representation schemes (see
http://www.tc37sc4.org/).
In the Ninth Joint ACL-ISO workshop we aim to bring together
researchers interested in the annotation of semantic information
as expressed in text, speech, gestures, graphics, and in multiple
modalities combined. Examples of semantic annotation include
notably the markup of events, time, space, dialogue acts,
discourse relations, and semantic roles, for which the
International ISO Organization pursues the establishment of
standards, in order to promote and support the creation of
interoperable semantic resources. The workshop provides a
platform for discussing work in recent and ongoing projects in
ISO and in other contexts, for exchanging information about
experiences in creating and applying semantically annotated
resources, for bringing in new ideas and perspectives relating to
semantic annotation and interoperability, and for discussing
semantic annotation in relation to computational semantics and to
other aspects of natural language processing.
Topics of the ISA-9 workshop include (but are not limited to) the
following:
* methodological aspects of semantic annotation
* experiments in semantic annotation
* semantic annotation and semantic interpretation
* semantic annotation, ontologies, and inferencing
* the semantics of semantic annotations
* applications of semantic annotation
* issues in semantic annotation in specific domains, such as
* time and space
* events, states, processes, facts,...
* semantic roles
* relations in dialogue and discourse
* domain-independent issues in semantic annotation, such as
negation, modality, veridicality, quantification, modification,
coreference, sentiment, and attribution
* integration of annotations across domains
* best practices in semantic annotation
* developments in projects that aim to define semantic annotation
standards
SUBMISSIONS:
----------------------
Four types of submissions are invited:
* research papers, describing original research relating to
semantic annotation; these can be long (6-8 pages) or short
(3-4 pages);
* project notes, describing recent, ongoing or planned projects
involving semantic annotation (2-4 pages);
* demonstration notes, accompanying demonstrations of software
tools for supporting manual semantic annotation or software
systems for automatic semantic annotation (2-4 pages);
* commentaries on ongoing ISO projects concerned with semantic
annotation standards (2 -4 pages).
Submissions should be prepared in Latex using the ACL format -
see http://www.acl2011.org/authors.shtml and should be submitted
electronically at the ISA-9 submissions website
https://www.softconf.com/iwcs2013/ISA-9/
IMPORTANT DATES:
-----------------------------
* Submission deadline: 7 January 2013
* Notification of paper acceptance: 4 February 2013
* Camera-ready papers due: 25 February 2013
* ISA-9 Workshop: March 19-20, 2013
