Jobs and CVs
ELSNET's Job and CV service
ELSNET offers the members of
the European language and speech
communities the fastest way of finding the best jobs in the
field. The network also provides the means for potential
employers to receive information about job seekers in NL and
speech.
All job ads sent out via
elsnet-list are stored in a searchable
archive, accessible from this page. The same applies to CVs
submitted to elsnet-list by job seekers (although CVs are not
forwarded to all subscribers).
PLEASE NOTE:
- Messages are to be sent directly to the list: elsnet-list@elsnet.org.
- The list is moderated, and messages will normally be checked
within one or two working days after their arrival.
- Messages are either rejected (if inappropriate) or forwarded
as they are, so we suggest not to include any
personal requests or messages to us.
- Subject lines and messages should be in English, but you may
add a translation in another language at the end.
- Messages should NOT contain any attachments. Normally
messages with attachments are automatically discarded.
- Messages should NOT be written in HTML as they would
normally be discarded as spam.
- If we receive multiple copies of the same message your
messages will be discarded and the sender will be blacklisted, so
we recommend you to clean up your mailing lists before sending
out messages.
- Messages should be submitted in the form of emails in plain
ASCII text, properly formatted, with no more than 80 characters
per line. Texts with longer lines are automatically formatted
and will normally look very silly once they are included in the
searchable archive.
- Messages will normally be added to the archive in the week
after they have been sent out, so you will not see them here
immediately.
If you want to see them earlier than most other people we
recommend that you subscribe to ELSNET-list - if you
wait until they appear here someone else may have run away with
your job!
You
can search through the entire Job and CV archive. Just type
in keywords separated by spaces. The system is
case-insensitive.
It is also possible to use
standard boolean connectives `and', `or' and `andnot'. Search
strings may be arbitrarily complex, for instance:
(natural and (language or speech)) andnot formal
You can send a mail to elsnet-list@elsnet.org,
providing at least the following
information:
- Employers
should give a brief description of the job including:
-
- job title
- qualifications or
expertise required
- location of job
- closing date for
applications (if there is one)
- contact information
- NB:
Only properly formatted messages in plain ASCII
text will be published.
We never distribute messages with
attachments or messages in HTML
-
-
- Job
seekers should send a brief
CV or biography including:
-
- personal details
- qualifications or
expertise
- main research interests
- other information which
may be relevant to employers in the field of NL or speech processing
- whether you are seeking
temporary (i.e., for summer or traineeship) or long-term employment
- your date(s) of
availability
- contact information
- NB:
Only properly formatted messages in plain ASCII
text will be published.
We do not publish CVs with attachments or CVs written in HTML.
MS Word attachments will be automatically converted to text, most of
the time with dramatic results.
Job ads will be sent to all
subscribers of elsnet-list. CVs will
not be posted directly to elsnet-list, but will be made available
in their entirety on the ELSNET web pages.
How to edit or remove an
obsolete job ad or CV?
Users cannot edit or remove their messages. If you want us to remove a
message you can send a removal request to elsnet@elsnet.org.
Please
- do not send administrative
requests directly to the list, as
they will either be automatically discarded or sent to the whole list
as they are (we never edit any messages)
- include the full link to
the message to be removed
(without that we cannot help you),
- and provide us with some
evidence that you are entitled to make such a request (e.g. use a
company email address for job ads or the email address included in your
CV) or make sure we can verify your identity in some other way. If you
want to change a message you should remove the old one and send an
updated version as a new message to elsnet-list@elsnet.org
