     Researchers for Speech Recognition (Voice Dialling) project


Description:

The Speech Recognition group in Nokia Research Center, Speech and Audio 
Systems laboratory, offers research positions on speech recognition (voice 
dialling). We work in close co-operation with Nokia Mobile Phones and Nokia 
Telecommunications developing speech recognition algorithms enabling a voice 
dialling feature for mobile terminals and networks.

Qualifications:

You have a solid background in speech recognition, mathematics, signal 
processing and software engineering. You are challenged by tough problems 
and you are capable of finding alternative solutions on your own. Despite of 
your strong desire for personal achievements you also manage in teams, 
learning from others and teaching others. You are skilled in English 
language, both in speaking and technical writing.

We are capable of offering challenging positions for both junior and senior 
researchers.

competitiveness. NRC explores and develops technologies in areas important 
to Nokia´s success, such as mobile and fixed telecommunications, 
audio-visual signal processing, software, and electronics. NRC's main 
focuses include GSM enhancement and third-generation cellular systems, 
broadband communications, and multimedia.

The Speech and Audio Systems laboratory develops speech and audio 
compression algorithms for digital telecommunications systems and enhances 
the audio quality of Nokia's products by using advanced digital signal 
processing and acoustics design. In addition, the laboratory develops speech 
recognition technology for voice-controlled user interfaces and multimedia 
applications for cellular networks.
