            4TH INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP
ON SYSTEMS, SIGNALS AND IMAGE PROCESSING

            CALL FOR PAPERS

After successful workshops in Budapest (1994 and 1995) and Manchester
(1996),
the 4th International Workshop on Systems, Signals and Image
Processing,
IWSSIP-97, will be organized by
            Poznan University of Technology,
        Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication
                and
Polish Society for Theoretical and Applied Electrical
Engineering,
            in co-operation with
        European Association for Signal Processing,
                IEE,
                   IEEE Poland Section
            and European Circuit Society.

The workshop intends to attract high quality papers and bring
together
researchers from all over the world, and especially from Central
Europe.

The workshop will be held at Poznan Centre of Science located near
the historic and
commercial centre of Poznan.
Historic city of Poznan is a significant centre of trade, banking and
industry
in Western Poland with population of about 580,000. It is easy to
reach
(300 km from Warsaw, 280 km from Berlin, or via Poznan International
Airport).

    SCOPE
1. General techniques and algorithms. Adaptive DSP algorithms. SVD,
wavelets and
fractals, neural networks and their applications in
    signal/image processing and analysis.
    Multidimensional system theory and design.
2. Image and video processing, analysis, understanding, compression.
Television.
3. Speech analysis, recognition and synthesis. Applications. Digital
processing
    of audio.
4. Multimedia in communication networks, ISDN, ATM, wireless
networks, Internet etc.
5. Analog and digital circuits and systems for speech, audio, image
and
video processing. VLSI, ASIC, new architectures.
6. Implementations and applications: communications, medical,
robotics, control,
    broadcasting, multimedia.

A special session in honour of 32nd anniversary of Cooley-Tukey paper
is planned.

    SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
Prospective authors are invited to propose papers in any of the
technical areas
listed above, indicating preferences for oral or poster presentation.
To submit
a proposal, prepare a 2-page summary of the paper (including figures
and
references). Send four copies of the paper summary and a cover sheet
stating:
(1) paper title,
(2) technical area(s),
(3) contact author's name,
(4) address,
(5) telephone and fax numbers,
(6) e-mail address to:

 IWSSIP-97, Politechnika Pozna+/-ska, Instytut Elektroniki i
Telekomunikacji,
 ul.Piotrowo 3a, PL 60-965 Poznan, Poland.

Each accepted paper (four-page limit) will be published in the
Proceedings
of IWSSIP-97.
Some selected papers will be published in
Image Processing & Communications journal.
