    Extended deadline:  Call for Participation, Call for Papers
    Abstracts received so far
    
    The deadline for abstract submission to the 
    
        Fourth International Conference on
        THE STRUCTURE OF HUNGARIAN
    
    has been extended.  The new deadline is:
    
                    31 March, 1998.

        Thank you for the submitted abstracts.  Special thanks are 
due to those who have sent their abstracts in more ways.          
          
    We remind those (not listed above) who would like to participate 
in the conference that it will be held at Janus Pannonius 
University of Pecs (JPTE), Hungary, from 26 to 28 August 1998.  
    The conference series is meant to gather linguists working on any aspect of 
Hungarian such as phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, the 
lexicon, textual cohesion, etc.
    Although, as usual, all contributions concerning the structure of 
Hungarian are equally welcome, this time contributions dealing with 
SYNTAX and SEMANTICS are more appreciated than others.
    The conference language is English.
    The conference fee is USD 45 (cca. HUF 9000), which 
includes accommodation and the last supper as well.  
Pending funds, partial reimbursement of costs and a few grants will be 
available.    
    The local organizing committee consists of 
        Gabor Alberti, head of the Dept. of Linguistics

        Jozsef Andor,  president of the Linguistics Section of the 
Pecs Academic Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences 
(ANDOR@BTK.JPTE.HU),
        Katalin T. Mark, scientific secretary of the Faculty of 
Humanities and Arts (TTITK@BTK.JPTE.HU),
        Maria Helga Szabo, Dept. of Linguistics (SZMH@BTK.JPTE.HU).

    Send abstracts (not longer than one page), which will be reviewed 
by a program committee, to the following e-mail address:

or to the first fax number below:  36-72-327-622/4335 (this latter 
solution has turned out to be less problematic so far).        
    New deadline:  abstracts must be received by 31 March 1998.

    Information on accommodation, costs etc. follows in due time (but 
this conference is planned to be similar to the 1996 Amsterdam 
3ICSH).  The expected arrival time is Tuesday evening, 25 August 
1998.    We will accept registration by e-mail, too.  Please forward 
this message also to your colleagues and students presumably 
interested in the topic of the conference.
    We are looking forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
