The United Kingdom Institute of Acoustics was formed in
1974 through the amalgamation of the Acoustics Group of the Institute
of Physics and the British Acoustical Society, and is the premier
organisation in the United Kingdom concerned with acoustics. The
Institute has representation in many major research, educational,
planning and industrial establishments covering all aspects of
acoustics including aerodynamic noise, environmental, industrial and
architectural acoustics, audiology, building acoustics, hearing,
electroacoustics, infrasonics, ultrasonics, noise, physical acoustics,
speech, transportation noise, underwater acoustics and vibration.
