The project group is concerned with the computational
processing of acoustic speech signals. Since the signals are designed
for human beings, there is a wide variety of interdisciplinary
research activities in this area. From the information-technology
point of view it is worth mentioning that speech is the most common
medium for human communication. Also, considering the interaction of
man and the technical environment, there is an increasing interest and
a growing number of technological applications for speech in such
areas as man-machine communication. At present, the main focus of the
group is the generation and adaptation of speech signals for different
dialogue scenarious, i.e. generation of suitable "computer speech".
