                     SPEECH AND COMPUTER (SPECOM-2003)

                          SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT


   We are glad to announce that SPECOM'2003 is designated as an ISCA
   supported event and the accepted participants will be able to apply
   for grants. The grants are offered to students and young
   scientists, applications should be submitted to
   grants@isca-speech.org according to the guidelines given at
   www.isca-speech.org/grants

   The International workshop "Speech and Computer" - SPECOM-2003 is
   aimed to discuss the most important topics and more perspective
   applied areas of man-computer interaction by speech and language.

   TOPICS to be covered include, but are not limited to:

   +       modern speech communication technologies;

   +       multilingual, multimodal and multimedial dialogue systems;

   +       automatic speech recognition and understanding;

   +       automatic speech translation systems;

   +       computer-mediated language learning;

   +       speech discourse analysis and modelling;

   +       forensic phonetics, identification and verification
           systems;

   +       TTS-systems;

   +       signal processing;

   +       speech and paralinguistics;

   +       speech signal databasis;

   +       text corpora, computational lexicography;

   +       speech intercultural virtual communication;

   +       media linguistics.

   LANGUAGE:

   English is the official language of the workshop.

   REGISTRATION:

   Registration fees are arranged as following:

   Western participants - EUR 300;
   Exhibitors - EUR 350;
   Western students - EUR 100;
   Central Europe participants - EUR 150;
   Central Europe students - EUR 50;
   Russian and former SU states participants - EUR 15;
   Russian students and postgraduates
   (without workshop Proceedings) - free of charge.
   Additional Proceedings copy is EUR 10.

   This fee must be paid on-site at the workshop. The fees include the
   Welcome Reception, a copy of the workshop proceedings, all workshop
   material, admission to all sessions and to the exhibition, banquet,
   coffee break refreshments and social events.

   ACCOMMODATION:

   All the participants will be provided with reduced accommodation in
   comfortable university hotel (about EUR 40-80 a day for a single
   room) situated in the historical cultural City center not far from
   the Moscow State Linguistic University. The address is: Komsomolsky
   prospekt, 6/2.

   LUNCHES:

   The three lunches can be taken in the Moscow State Linguistic
   University restaurant for amount of 35 Euros, which will have to be
   paid in cash upon arrival. The conference organisers urge you to
   book the lunches since there is hardly any alternative if you wish
   to have lunch at all during the conference.

   EXHIBITIONS:

   A scientific and technical exhibition may be held during the
   conference. It is open to companies and research institutions.
