Workshop on Balkan Language Resources and Tools
21 November 2003
Satellite event to the 1st Balkan Conference
in Informatics (21-23 November 2003)
As the pervasive character of human language technologies
and their relevance to a range of applications has been widely
recognised, the need for language resources and tools becomes crucial.
This workshop will bring together researchers working in a range of
human language technologies applications and will focus on issues
relevant to language resources and tools developed for Balkan languages.
AREAS OF INTEREST
Submissions should be relevant to language resources, tools and
applications developed for Balkan languages. More specifically,
topics include but are not limited to:
- grammars and lexicons
- information retrieval
- information extraction
- text summarization
- question answering
- natural language generation
- machine translation
- dialogue systems
- computer-assisted language learning
- architectures and development environments
- corpus-based and statistical methods
- evaluation of language processing components and systems
The official language of the workshop is English.
Submissions should not exceed eight pages, including figures,
tables and references.
A4, two-column format with Times NewRoman 12 pt font is preferred.
The first page should state the title of the paper,
the author's name(s), affiliation, postal and email address(es),
a list of keywords and an abstract.
Papers should be submitted electronically in PDF format.

Workshop date: 21 November 2003
The proceedings will be published electronically. A post-proceedings
volume is planned to be published as special issue of a journal.
The papers selected for this special issue
will be peer reviewed once more.
