As one of the key technologies to their success, many organizations are now exploring the use of Semantic Web technologies in the hope of easing the effort of heterogeneous data integration and reuse of data in unanticipated ways, simplifying the annotation and sharing of findings, expressing rich and well-defined models for search, and facilitating the implementation of logic to infer additional insights. ++++++++++++++++++++++ Aims of the Conference ++++++++++++++++++++++ The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners in areas of Medicine, Healthcare, Life Sciences, and Semantic Web to share their visions, research achievements, and solutions to real applications, to resolve challenging issues, and to establish worldwide cooperative research and development. +++++++++++++++++ Topics of Interest +++++++++++++++++ The aim of this workshop is to cover all aspects that relate to research and practical issues of Semantic Web Technologies for Life Sciences, Medicine and Healthcare. The areas of interest in support tool, application, and service perspectives, include but are not limited to • Ontology Modeling and Integration • Knowledge Discovery, Representation and Management • Biomedical Applications of Semantic Web Technologies • Anatomy Ontology • Clinical Decision Support Systems • Clinical Document Architecture • Document Annotation (tools & methodologies) • Ontologies in Medicine • Social Semantic Web +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Paper Submission Guidelines +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Submitted papers must be written in English and one of the following formats must be used for the first submission: PDF, PS, DOC. Workshop papers will be published in a dedicated book and not in LNCS-but they will follow LNCS formatting instructions. Please refer to the Springer LNCS web site (http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-2-72376-0) for the paper formatting instructions. Preferred maximum paper length for the camera ready is 10 printed pages including figures.
