************************************************************************ ISCA workshop 'Advanced ASR for Telecom Applications' Date: 27-29 November 2002 Location: Palais des Papes, Avignon, France *****SECOND CALL for PAPERS!!!!***** The IST project SMADA (Speech driven Multi-modal Automatic Directory Assistance) funded by the European Commission will organise a workshop, titled 'Advanced ASR for Telecom Applications'. This workshop aims at ASR applications for which challenging research is still needed. The focus will be on very large vocabulary recognition, on automatic learning and on speech centric multimodal applications. The workshop will run under the auspices of ISCA, as one of their ITRWs. Selection of contributions for this workshop will be on the basis of full papers (4 pages). Only plenary sessions and invited lectures are planned and the intended number of participants amounts to 100 to 150. A guided tour of the Palais des Papes is included in the basic registration fee. Topics of the workshop include: Large Vocabulary - High Perplexity ASR methods and technologies including: Automatic learning of request formulations, model topologies, etc. Proper Name Recognition, e.g. pronunciation variants, acoustic models Confidence Measures for use in the dialogue and unsupervised adaptation, etc. Robust Features for ASR in adverse acoustic conditions Large Vocabulary - High Perplexity ASR applications Directory Assistance Speech only applications Multimodal applications Important dates: - Submission deadline for papers: June 15, 2002 via http://lands.let.kun.nl/SMA DA/submit/ - Notification of acceptance August 1, 2002 - Final version ready September, 15 2002 - Invited papers ready September 1, 2002 Workshop fee: Non-ISCA Member 450 Euro ISCA Member 400 Euro Non-ISCA Member - Students 350 Euro ISCA Member - Students 300 Euro Late registration supplement (after November 1, 2002) 50 Euro The fee includes attendance to the workshop, proceedings, three lunches, one dinner, and a guided tour of the Palais des Papes.
