Project description: THE SPANISH PORTAL FOR HUMAN LANGUAGE TECHNOLOGIES

This portal is conceived as an information and dissemination centre aimed at 
promoting the presence and use of Spanish in language technologies. Its main 
objective is to foster interaction and collaboration among HLT R&D centres, 
companies, public administrations and end-users through providing them with an 
online meeting place and work environment that offers different levels of 
field-specific information, from broad sector-specific databases for 
professionals to general information about HLT and language resources. 

This portal provides users with free access to the following services:

- An online publicly accessible and permanently updated HLT Database, with a 
search engine, currently offering the following categories of information:

• HLT related R&D Centers
• HLT related organisations
• HLT related projects

- Bulletins, providing the following categories of information:

• Monthly newsletter , offering selected news related to the latest 
developments or implementations that are taking place in the sector. Also, news 
concerning funding sources are frequently included

• Weekly Agenda bulletin offering a selection of 10 events or professional 
publications that have released a call for papers

- A news section, offering selected news related to the latest developments or 
implementations that are taking place in the sector. Also, news concerning 
funding sources are frequently included

- An agenda of events, information about HLT related events, classified by 
date, type of event, topic and location

- An online helpdesk, offering online consultation services to interested 
parties. The participation is high and is not limited to Spain, as many 
questions come from Latin America

- A document reference centre, offering references of books, professional 
magazines and reports. Also, many reports can be directly downloaded from this 
section as a pdf document

- General HLT information, aimed at providing beginners with general knowledge 
about the field of HLT and the different types of technologies that are 
available and possible uses for them

- An Interactive Information Update System, a system that allows users to 
update their own contact information as well as the details of their 
organisation, including on-going projects, new products, etc.
