Description: I obtained a BSc in Physics with Computing Physics from University College Swansea an MSc(Eng.) by research in Electrical Engineering from Liverpool University and a Phd in Speech Science fom University College London. After completing my first degree, I was employed at Liverpool as an RA working on Speech Coding and Digital Filter design. After leaving Liverpool I was employed in the department of Phonetics and Linguistics at UCL, where I worked on speech analysis, recognition and synthesis. I then joined BT, eventually becoming project leader and project manager of the Text-to-Speech Synthesis, Synthetic Persona and VR projects. I am currently working on Text-to-Speech Synthesis and Intelligent Computer Generated Characters at UEA. I have close links with a number of commercial organisations working in these areas. |
