Dr. Hans Cools started as orthopaedic hand surgeon in the University Hospital of Antwerp, Belgium. After an additional education in informatics he became project manager assisting the start-up of the medical dictation software department in a speech recognition company. His major ICT experience lies in the field of, mainly (para) medical, natural language processing/understanding (NLP/NLU) (Language & Computing, Belgium). He managed multiple European and national Belgian projects (IWT) in healthcare. Further on he is acquainted with medical editing, e.g. CD-ROMS. Currently Dr. Cools is parttime Senior Project and Scientific Coordinator of Arteveldehogeschool Gent and coordinates a start-up company dealing with unstructured data management (UDM). |
