Lingenio GmbH is a leading company in language and
multilingual technology. The most important products are the machine
translation system 'translate' and the electronic dictionary series
'office dictionary'. Both product series are continuously improved and
extended.
translate is available for the language pairs English-German/German-English
and German-French/French-German. office dictionary ist available for
English-German/German-English, German-French/French-German,
German-Spanish/Spanish-German. Other language pairs are under development.
The products of Lingenio and the translation and dictionary technology were
awarded several national and international software prizes. Lingenio cooperates
with a number of partners; in particular with Klett Pons (Germany), Spoken
Translation Inc. (US), Dialogue Technologies (Sweden), Synthema SRL (Italy). In
research there are close connections among others to the Universitat
Autònoma de Barcelona and the Institute for Natural Language Processing at
the University of Stuttgart. We participate in research projects sponsored by
the German Ministry of Education and Research and by the European Union. Thus
we ensure that our technology continues to strengthen its leading position.
Lingenio was founded in 1999 (under the name of linguatec Entwicklung &
Services) by former IBM employees who have a longstanding experience in
language technology and who developed the translation product Personal
Translator from the research phase to marketability. Since 2004 the
company's name is Lingenio GmbH. In the same year the company started the
development of Personal Translator's successor translate. In 2005 Lingenio
launched its office dictionary which integrates an innovative context-sensitive
search technology .
