The Signal Processing Society's areas of interest are the
theory and application of filtering, coding, transmitting, estimating,
detecting, analyzing, recognizing, synthesizing, recording, and
reproducing signals by digital or analog devices or techniques. The
term signal includes audio, video, speech, image, communication,
geophysical, sonar, radar, medical, musical, and other signals. The
purposes of the Society are scientific and educational, directed
toward the advancement of the theory and practice of its field of
interest. Its purpose is also professional, directed toward the
advancement of the standing of its members. Furthermore, it works with
other IEEE entities to fulfill the broader purposed of the IEEE.
