The Biometric Consortium, as chartered by the U.S.
Security Policy Board, is a scientifically-based interest group for
federal government users of biometric identification systems, such as
voiceprinting, handprinting, fingerprinting, and the like. Associate
membership in the Consortium, as held by our College of Engineering,
is open to university, State government, and industrial groups. The
Biometric Consortium is concerned with automatically recognizing a
person using distinguishing traits and serves as the US Government's
focal point for research, development, test, evaluation, and
application of biometric-based personal identification/verification
technology.
