The working group NATS is headed by Prof. Dr. W. von Hahn
and deals with the design and realization of software systems for
knowledge based natural language processing. A large amount of work is
done within the field of natural language access to background
systems. This is based on the assumption that it is desirable for the
occasional users of database systems to be able to use natural
language commands instead of written formal commands. Currently there
is a shift towards the processing of spoken language. Interactive
systems have to adapt to their users' expectations and actions in
order to provide a flexible and adequate communication.
