The natural language laboratory at Simon Fraser University is one of the larger North American labs working on natural language processing (NLP) in which computers are used to understand the structure and meaning of "natural languages" such as English, French, and Spanish. The lab is involved in work in machine translation, computer assisted language learning, information extraction, and natural language interfaces. Researchers associated with the lab have also formed a company designed to commercialize natural language processing technology. The company is gavagai Technology Incorporated. |
