-------------------------------------------- JOB OPENINGS FOR TWO DIALOGUE SYSTEM RESEARCHERS -------------------------------------------- In the field of innovative software technologies, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI GmbH) is the leading research institution in Germany, and in the international science community the DFKI ranks among the most important "Centers of Excellence" worldwide. For a new research project - METALOGUE (EU, FP7, STREP) - we are offering two open positions Junior researcher (PhD position) Senior researcher (postdoc position) The 3-year multidisciplinary project in the area of multimodal, multi-party and multi-perspective dialogue system focuses on the combination of state-of-the-art statistical and knowledge-based dialogue management with metacognitive abilities. The project will research, implement and evaluate virtual agents deployed in educational settings. We are looking for two motivated and highly skilled individuals that have excellent research potential as well as programming skills and in-depth knowledge and/or interest in the following areas: discourse modelling and context-dependent interpretation of multimodal contributions, dialogue act theories, machine learning, mutlimodal dialogue management including multimodal fusion and fission, threaded cognition, WoZ and corpus annotation. The ideal candidates will have Master/PhD in computational linguistics/cognitive science and/or informatics or equivalent; knowledge and interest in multilingual/mutli-cultural settings; proven software skills: interest and experience in both theoretical aspect as well as practical implementation of advanced multimodal dialogue systems: going all the way from theory to running system. The positions are located in Saarbrücken starting by 1.11.2013.
