The Symposium is organized by the Linguistics Committee of the Pecs Academic Board of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, in conjunction with the Research Institute for Linguistics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Budapest) and the Linguistics Department of the University of Pecs. The symposium will be organized in the villa of Pecs Academic Board (PAB) on the picturesque hill-side of the Mecsek mountain. The 2002 forum is the seventh installment of the Logic and Language Symposium series. Preceding ones took place in Debrecen (1987), Hajduszoboszlo (1989), Revfulop (1990), Budapest (1992), Noszvaj (1994), Budapest (1998). THE PROGRAM of the LoLa7 consists of: Invited lectures by Tanya Reinhart (syntax-semantics interface) - Utrecht, Tel Aviv Jan van Eijck (semantics) - Amsterdam A guest lecture by: Laszlo Kalman (computational semantics) - Budapest Tutorials (3x50 minutes) by: Tanya Reinhart (Utrecht, Tel Aviv) and Kriszta Szendroi (Utrecht, London) - syntax-semantics interface Jan van Eijck (Amsterdam) - semantics a tutorial on informational structure is being organized General program, which has room for 30 presentations of submitted papers. THEMES The Symposium invites submissions for 30-minute presentations (with 5 additional minutes for discussion) on current research in all aspects of Logic and Linguistics. Specific subjects include, but are not limited to, the two special themes of the symposium: 1. Logic and Computation - Internal Information Increase 2. Syntax and Semantics - Word Order, Intonation and Interpretation SUBMISSION OF PAPERS Abstracts should consist of: 1. An anonymous abstract of four pages (1500 words) maximum. 2. A separate page on which are specified: paper title, author s name, address, affiliation, phone and fax number, complete mailing address and a 200 word long summary. We strongly prefer electronic submissions, which can be in pdf, ps, rtf or word format. Abstracts should be sent both to: lola7_(on)_btk.pte.hu and matrica_(on)_stud.btk.pte.hu The deadline for submission of abstracts is March 31, 2002.
